Venice, Fritto Misto

Ponte della Costituzione, the modern glass bridge, connecting Santa Lucia train station with Piazzale Roma, Venice, ItalyOne of the numerous canals in Venice, Italy

We prepared the bags to leave the apartment and went out for the morning strolling.

I have read that in the historic island city of Venice there are roughly 3000 pedestrian streets, which covering around 140 kilometres (not including passages, squares etc.). So, you can walk and walk here so long. But there are also 160 canals, which are functioning like the streets in Venice, for example, for delivery, garbage collection, ambulances, fire boats and taxis. The longest canal here is the Grand Canal, with the length about 3.8 kilometers (meanwhile, the total canal-network length is approximately 40 kilometers). Unfortunately, we have not tried any boats here so far, but surely it must be completely different experience, watching the Venice facades from the water.

Indeed, Venice is full of cozy squares and spots, which are still not discovered by me, despite the fact that I have been here so many times.

Leaving Italy without tasting Pizza is a crime! So, we have stopped at this street food spot. It was delicious for me. But I think, any pizza in Italy is delicious, because of the air, people and general atmosphere around.

Some more walking.

And some more street food. My favourite one is Fritto Misto, a mixed fried crispy seafood dish, which I usually buy next to the Fish Market near the Rialto bridge. Such dish includes some small fish, shrimps, squid, calamary, vegetables and polenta (made from cornmeal). I am happy. And ready for the train back to Treviso and then to the airport and then to Prague.

For the whole staying in Venice, during these 3 days, I have walked roughly 45 kilometres. Surely, it is not my maximum, but quite a good physical exercise for my legs. I have a feeling, that I want to return to Venice very soon and to discover here some more nice locations. And it will be a different exciting story.
